MLJ Adoptions in conjunction with The Fatherless Foundation is planning an adoption and orphan service trip to Nicaragua in November. The trip is open to volunteers who are interested in assisting with work in the area orphanages and potentially interested in international adoption from this country. Currently the trip is planned for Tuesday November 24th-Sunday November 29th (this is during Thanksgiving week). There is potential for a second group to arrive Friday November 27th-Tuesday Dec. 1st, based upon interest (especially if people have a conflict with the holiday). But what better way to celebrate and give thanks than by doing good work for children in need?
The tentative schedule would be as follows:
Tuesday, November 24th – first group arrives Managua, Nicaragua. Transportation to Granada
Wednesday, November 25th – Orphanage work day (1st group)
Thursday, November 26th – Orphanage work day (1st group)
Friday, November 27th – Free day (independent tours/shopping/beach) – tour 1st group and 2nd group arrives and transported to Granada – Fiesta Night!
Saturday, November 28th – Both groups full day tour to volcano/beach – Dinner/Dancing – Do you know how to salsa?
Sunday, November 29th – Travel home (1st group) – Orphanage work day (2nd group)
Monday, November 30th – Orphanage work day
Tuesday, December 1st – 2nd group depart for Managua.
1st Group – Cost will be your flight plus $320 for your transportation to and from airport and your accommodations (must sleep two in a room). Most accommodations include a wonderful breakfast. The $320 does not include your flight, tours or other meals/transportation. I would suggest budgeting to bring at least $300 with you, but if you want to shop or eat at nice restaurants, please bring funds accordingly. You can get along very cheaply in Nicaragua but it is also nice to experience some of the “finer” (using this term somewhat loosely) things in Nicaragua.
2nd Group – same as above but cost will be $285
Flights can range from $450 to $800
Trip fees ($320 or $285) above can be made payable to The Fatherless Foundation and you will receive a receipt from the Foundation.
There are no required immunizations for travel to Nicaragua. More information will be provided via a travel guide and meeting prior to the trip.
Groups will be limited to 6-8 people. Four are already registered for the first group/trip.
Adoption Attorney Michele Jackson, founder of The Fatherless Foundation and MLJ Adoptions, will leave for the Republic of Congo the last week of September. She is seeking donations to buy medical supplies for the orphanages in the Congo.
